APPLICATION STORY
Axle Pressure Sensing
Pressure transducers adapted for air-suspension axle-weighing systems, with compatible bridge resistance, wiring and field-tested cabling.

Overview
An axle-weighing equipment manufacturer required replacement pressure transducers for vehicle air-suspension systems without redesigning its existing signal-conditioning hardware.
The challenge
The new transducers had to operate alongside existing sensors, withstand road use and connect directly to the customer's established measurement electronics.
- Match the bridge characteristics of the existing pressure transducer.
- Provide a full Wheatstone-bridge output.
- Adapt M12 sensor wiring to the existing RJ12 connection.
- Withstand vibration, moisture and changing ambient temperatures.
Our solution
Quality Lab Solutions reviewed the electrical interface, bridge resistance, pin configuration and cable requirements before preparing samples for vehicle testing.
- Specified a compatible full-bridge pressure transducer.
- Developed an M12-to-RJ12 cable arrangement.
- Matched signal and excitation wiring to the existing system.
- Supplied samples for testing on a working two-axle tractor.
Results
The transducers completed a 12-week road trial covering more than 8,000 miles in mixed weather without signal loss or water ingress. The project progressed to a 700-unit production order, followed by an urgent 100-unit delivery to maintain the customer's assembly schedule.
Customer benefits
The customer gained a compatible pressure-sensing alternative without changing its established axle-weighing electronics.
- Reduced redesign and validation work.
- Direct compatibility with existing wiring.
- Improved supply-chain flexibility.
- Production quantities supported after field validation.
