APPLICATION STORY
Pump Pressure & Temp
A combined pressure and temperature sensor reduced component count and installation footprint within a compact pump assembly.
On this page
Overview
A pump equipment manufacturer required pressure and temperature feedback within a restricted assembly space and wanted to reduce the number of separate sensing components.
The challenge
The existing concept used separate pressure and temperature devices, increasing the number of process connections, electrical interfaces and assembly operations.
- Measure pressure and temperature from one process point.
- Fit within the available pump housing space.
- Provide outputs compatible with the control electronics.
- Operate with water, oils, refrigerants and gases.
Our solution
Quality Lab Solutions specified a combined pressure and temperature sensor and tailored the pressure range, connector and threaded process connection to the customer's mechanical design.
- Combined a voltage pressure output with an integrated temperature element.
- Selected stainless-steel wetted construction.
- Reviewed operation across the required temperature range.
- Supplied samples and batch quotation options for OEM evaluation.
Results
Prototype testing confirmed stable pressure and temperature feedback across the customer's operating cycle. Combining both measurements removed one process port and one separate sensor, reducing assembly time by approximately 18% and supporting a planned 1,000-unit production batch.
Customer benefits
The combined sensor simplified the pump assembly while retaining both measurements required by the control system.
- Smaller installation footprint.
- Reduced component and wiring count.
- Fewer potential leak paths.
- Simplified purchasing and production assembly.
